"Understanding the importance of Mental Health & Well-Being Management is the key not only to your own personal success, but that of your business too"
Regardless of whether we are in the throws of a Global Pandemic or walking through what is considered to be a normal day? We do know that unless you feel your best it is impossible to deliver the and be the best. The importance of taking charge of our own personal well-being or that of our business and all those within it is in our own hands. It depends on what value you place on the importance of you, your goals and aspirations be they personal or professional?
Long gone are the days of thinking, that providing facilities for people to have their lunch and a coffee machine is the sum total of managing the mental health and well-being of you and your team!
With the challenges that face us everyday in modern life we are thankful that this is no longer the case. Expectations can be so very high and the demands that we make on ourselves and that others place upon us have shifted. Sometimes beyond the point of our capabilities and our tolerances - So why are we so challenged to admit it?
We fear failure, and the truth is admission might just possibly mean we have failed? But does it?
Failing to acknowledge and talk about how to manage and take care of our own mental health and well-being and that of the teams and people we employ is winning from the outset and builds the solid foundations for an extraordinary business and build an extraordinary team.
Our priority is you and ensuring that we have flexible options available to suit all industries and business environments. We can tailor make a Mental Health and Well-Being programme specifically for you and your business. Or if you prefer training programmes that have specific needs in mind. Why not take a look?
Approximately 1 in 4 people in the UK will experience a mental illness each year. Over 15.8 million UK work days are lost on average each year due to mental illness. The largest causes of sickness absence for our county’s workforce is depression, stress, and anxiety. Mental illness costs UK businesses around £35 billion every year, this equates to £10.6 billion lost to sickness absence, £21.2 billion in reduced productivity, and £3.1 billion in substituting staff members who leave their roles due to mental illness.
Someone with poor mental health may not realise it and even if they do, they may be reluctant to seek help, or might not know where to turn for care.
In the workplace, there is still a great deal of ignorance around mental health issues, including uncertainty about how to recognise mental illness, and uncertainty about how to react when faced with it. This means that those in need of mental health help and support do not receive it.
When left uninformed, managers and co-workers may unwittingly exhibit stigmatising behaviours, which can be detrimental to a person experiencing a mental health issue. By failing to respond appropriately to an employee with a mental health issue, an organisation may open itself to a claim for compensation. This could be lengthy, expensive, and take precious time away from managers and staff.
We all know that we have an obligation to look after our employees and that we undertake a legal duty of care when we start to employ people.
However, we believe at Mash Group that the quality of your business is only as good as the people within it. How they feel, how they think and how much they respect who they are working for plays a huge part in the quality of work that is delivered. Not only that, but it drives commitment too!
When you understand it, you can be confident in managing it and that is the difference!
It's easier than you think, below is a taster of what we have available to support you and your teams. We offer a bespoke service too and are happy to dscuss your needs on a Business Partner, by Business Partner basis.
